Abby Clausing

Board Member

Abby Clausing brings both professional expertise and a deep commitment to community engagement to her role on the Flossmoor Art Council. Before joining the board, Abby worked in ophthalmology under a corneal specialist, where she ran a LASIK program, performed patient testing and education, and built lasting connections with both patients and referring doctors. Her background reflects a natural ability to care for people, create meaningful relationships, and support others in pursuing their goals.

Community service has always been an important part of Abby’s life. She has volunteered with PADS, providing direct support to families in need, and has also spent time volunteering with the Homewood-Flossmoor music program while her oldest son was involved in marching and jazz band. She loved supporting not only her son but all of the students and musicians, encouraging their growth and celebrating their achievements. Since childhood, Abby has also been deeply inspired by the arts—especially Broadway and Broadway musicals—which continues to fuel her belief in the power of performance and creativity to bring people together.

At home, Abby is surrounded by music and creativity. She and her husband, Jim, are raising three children, ages 22, 13, and 17 months, in a household filled with rhythm and song. Both her husband and oldest son are drummers, while Abby herself loves to sing. Together, the family recently supported their oldest son in moving to Nashville to pursue a degree in Audio Science Engineering—a reflection of their belief in following passions and nurturing talent.

Through her personal and professional journey, Abby brings to the council not only her skills and experience, but also her warmth, perspective as a mother, and a genuine passion for making the arts accessible to all. She is excited to be part of an organization that celebrates creativity and works to ensure that underrepresented communities have the opportunity to thrive through artistic expression.
